Ingredients
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 c. granulated sugar
2 c. un-sifted flour
1 t. salt
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 t. vanilla
1 t. baking soda
For oatmeal cookies use 1 1/3 c. flour and 2 c. oatmeal.

Directions
Beat together the shortening, 2 eggs, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla.
Stir in the salt, flour and baking soda.
Bake at 375° for 9 to 10 minutes.
Instead of chocolate chips, you can add: nuts, raisins or coconut.
